Musician Edwin McCain national tour to stop in Beaufort
Edwin McCain will be performing at Pope John Paul II school this November.

It’s been a number of years since Edwin McCain has been in the Beaufort area to perform, with his last concert in the area several years back at the USCB Center for the Arts.

He’s coming back. The popular S.C musician will be performing a benefit concert just over the Broad River Bridge at John Paul II Catholic School as part of his national tour, on November 6th.

“JPII is honored to have Edwin McCain perform a benefit concert on our campus, November 6, during his 2021 national tour,” the school said in a release.

Having Edwin McCain back in the Beaufort area should be a great time.

McCain, originally from Greenville and beloved here in the Palmetto State, is a singer songwriter best known for his hit singles “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More.” Called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times, McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule. His hit songs, authentic spirit and his sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts.

After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music and experiencing the success that comes with a television show on Animal Planet (Flipping Ships), McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the U.S.

The enduring love songs and wedding must-haves, “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More” aren’t just for the romantic at heart; American Idol and The Voice contestants turn to Edwin’s ballads every year to help them win over judges and fans alike (just ask last season’s AI winner, Nick Fradiani). Even Justin Bieber has been known to belt out “I’ll Be” during his own concerts. 2018 marked the 20th anniversary of the success of “I’ll Be,” which topped the Billboard charts in 1998 and has proven to be a timeless classic.

The upcoming concert benefiting the school’s scholarship fund is an outdoor family event at the school’s softball complex, and attendees are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets. The concert starts at 5pm with opening acts Twin Roots with lead singer and JPII performing arts teacher Ava Nixon, followed by The Nice Guys before Edwin McCain takes the stage at 8pm.

The grounds of the school will open at 4pm for concert goers, and area food trucks will be on site to serve up their unique offerings.

Ticket prices for the benefit concert are $50 for general admission, and $75 for preferred seating. You can purchase your tickets here.

The school is located at 4211 North Okatie Highway (Hwy 170) in Ridgeland.
