More shopping options should be coming to Beaufort soon. A large retail shopping center is planned on 28 acres of land at the southwest corner of Robert Smalls Parkway and Parris Island Gateway across from Cross Creek Shopping Center.
According to reports, the new mixed-use Beaufort Station would feature at least eight anchor tenants and several additional stores.
Some are saying that it could possibly include a Hobby Lobby, however, reports also say that the City of Beaufort Design Review Board has stated that it is too early to name any of the retail stores that could set up in the shopping center at this time.
The area that the construction would be is across from the entrance to Cross Creek Shopping Center and the Super WalMart.
It’s the same spot that discount grocery store chain, Lidl, had proposed to build on a few years ago, but then pulled out.
But, we could get lucky and Lidl may decide to be a part of the new Beaufort Station.
Other projects we’re all currently waiting on are the Harris Teeter project on Lady’s Island, and the new Publix at the Beaufort Shopping Center.
Any way you shake it, Beaufort locals could certainly use more retail options. A new shopping center in Beaufort is certainly welcome.
