After some dozen years on Lady’s Island, popular local restaurant Piace Pizza is relocating in August to Port Royal. The announcement was made by the restaurant’s Facebook page on Monday morning, just hours before Port Royal’s Scratch Italian Kitchen announced it was closing its doors.
“After so many wonderful years on Lady’s Island, Piace Pizza is moving to 831 Parris Island Gateway in Shell Point,” Piace’s announcement said. “Our last day on Lady’s Island will be Sunday, July 26. Our sister restaurant next door will be closing on Friday, July 17 so we can begin the moving process and get back to serving you as quickly as possible.”
Ownership said they hope to have the new location open around August 7.
Scratch Italian Kitchen, owned by Nick Borreggine, also owner of ShellRing Ale Works and Alvin Ord’s, announced its closure on Monday afternoon after being open for nearly two years in the spot previously home to Borreggine’s Fat Patties restaurant.
“To our incredible
Community, Friends, and Guests, Scratch will be closing on July 26th,” the announcement said.
“This decision was not made lightly, but it comes at the right time for our family as we prepare to step into our next season. While it is bittersweet to say goodbye we are not going anywhere. Keep an eye out for future special event catering. We love this community and all of you. Thanks to all of our staff over the 15 years in this building. Thanks to all of you who allowed us to be part of your lives. We are grateful for all the memories and the entire journey.”
Piace Pizza owner Brian Ferry plans to take advantage of the new spot in the Shell Point area of Port Royal. It offers more seating than their current location, and ownership is excited about the future.
“We plan to expand our menu adding many items from our sister restaurant, La Cucina, and we’ll also add more sandwiches, appetizers, and salads; and we’re also adding some brand new pasta dishes as well,” Sanna Ferry told us.
“We’ll still offer our popular menu, but we’re adding to it and are definitely going to keep the same Piace-vibe,” she said. “Everyone loves the restaurant the way way it is, so were not going to change much; we’re just going to add more.”
Another addition to the business will be a liquor license, “so we can take advantage of the beautiful bar inside the new location,” she added. Plans are to also offer a full bar with beers, wines, and liquor.
