S.C. Gov. McMaster to extend 'Home or Work' order on Monday

Gov. Henry McMaster is expected to extend South Carolina’s current State of Emergency declaration on Monday.

“We’re not out of this yet,” McMaster said on Sunday in Greenville.

This will mark the third State of Emergency order declaration during the COVID-19 outbreak.

McMaster’s current order will expire on Monday, April 27th, and the new State of Emergency would extend for another 15 days. State law only allows the mandate to be in effect for 15 days, but also could be lifted prior to that deadline.

And, there’s always the chance of some revisions to his current order would be made in the declaration.

‘If we’re smart, we can come out of it quickly, but we must do so safely,” the Governor added.

Recently, the governor closed all K-12 schools for the rest of the spring and relaxed restrictions on some retail businesses, boat landings and public beach accesses, with discretion given to local governments. S.C. State Parks, including Hunting Island will be reopening with rules and restrictions, on Friday, May 1st.
