The Town of Port Royal plans to reopen Sands Beach to vehicles this weekend, according to the town’s Facebook page.

According to the announcement, the town intends to have the beach at the Sands reopened to vehicle parking by Saturday, May 23rd.

But parking will undoubtedly be a little different as staff plans to install a bollard and rope barrier at the Sands that will establish new boundaries for parking vehicles.

According to the release, it will also create a larger, safe beach area for visitors, and golf carts will have access points on either end, but motor vehicles will not be allowed beyond the rope and bollards.

The town closed vehicle access to The Sands back on March 24th, and public access to the Sands Beach and boardwalk, in a limited capacity, was returned on Wednesday, April 22nd.
