The SCDNR Law Enforcement Division will be offering free boat inspections at public boat landings state-wide over the July 4th weekend, and will then be back in Beaufort County during the upcoming Beaufort Water Festival to do it all over again.

Boating safety and enforcement officers will perform inspections for required safety equipment and proper boat and motor registrations on state waterways on July 1st, July 2nd and on July 4th.

Those who are not in compliance with safety regulations or registration requirements will not be ticketed during the inspections, say organizers. Instead, officers will be available to give boaters tips on how to stay safe on the water and answer questions.
