New seafood restaurant opening on Ribaut Road in Beaufort

Beaufort is getting another seafood spot with a new seafood restaurant opening soon on Ribaut Road.

Mr. Seafood plans to open next month in the old Pizza Hut building at 1281 Ribaut Road that was most recently home to two Italian restaurants.

No stranger to seafood, the Beaufort restaurant’s part-owner, Rasheed Nurudin, operates a popular Mr. Seafood restaurant in Columbia that’s been around awhile and is also in the process of opening a third location, in Charlotte, NC.

Mr. Seafood offers a variety of seafood in a fast, casual atmosphere.

“Our shrimp and blue crabs will be sourced locally in Beaufort,” part-owner Julius Tolbert said.

Coming to town frequently to purchase local blue crabs for his Columbia restaurant, Nurudin and Tolbert are familiar with Beaufort.New seafood restaurant opening on Ribaut Road in Beaufort

“We really enjoy the people in Beaufort, the area and the military presence in the city,” he added when asked why they decided to set up shop in town.”

Tolbert also said that they plan to hire about 25 people in a variety of positions at the restaurant and could add more because they also operate a food truck.

Mr. Seafood offers a variety of seafood baskets including fish, crab legs, steamed and fried shrimp, oysters and scallops and it will be one of the few spots in the area to offer snow crab legs on the menu.

They also boast an award winning garlic butter sauce that has become the restaurant’s trademark.

Other menu options will include chicken wings, hush puppies, fried okra, fried green tomatoes, fried corn and fish sandwiches, among others.

The Ribaut Road location plans to open in mid-February.

We certainly welcome another seafood restaurant option here in Beaufort.
