Southern Living has put a local shrimp burger on its list of Best Burgers in South Carolina.
In a recent article, the popular magazine gave a nod to what it feels are the best burgers in the Palmetto State and a local shrimp burger from the Shrimp Shack on St. Helena Island made the list.
The Shrimp Shack’s “version of this traditional beach treat relies on small, tender shrimp for its sweet, slightly briny flavor,” SL said.
“You can get it with tartar sauce, mayo, or a dollop of homemade cocktail sauce.”
We prefer ours with the cocktail sauce.
They nailed their description of the Shrimp Shack too, letting readers know since it opened way back in 1978 it’s a “laid-back eatery on the road leading from Beaufort to the Atlantic and a favorite of beach-going families and hungry boaters.”
All of the other burgers on the list were beef.
Except for this one. Because this one is special.
We love our foodie culture here in the Beaufort area and we’re happy to see that local favorites get noticed outside of town. It’s food and restaurants like this one that help make Beaufort the special place that it is.
See the full list here. SL pulled the article from its website, but you can still find the recommendation here at Foursquare. You may also find a few other burgers in the state that you’ve had, or that you may want to try. They all look so good.
