It’s finally here! Local strawberries are just about ready and it’s about time to go and enjoy a taste of spring, Beaufort-style. Dempsey Farms Strawberry U Pick fields will be opening up for the season on Wednesday, March 8th, on a limited basis.
Opening slightly later than usual due to cold weather, next week kicks off one of the favorite times of the year for many locals, spanning a few generations.
There’s nothing like grabbing the kids and going for a drive down Sea Island Parkway on St.Helena Island and pulling up to the familiar red & white sign on the right side of the 
highway.
A trip to Dempsey’s is a rite of passage for many of Beaufort’s kids…and plenty of adults. Grabbing a bucket and venturing out into the fields in search of the perfect strawberry is a springtime favorite in these parts.
Dempsey Farms warns that hours will be limited during the beginning of the strawberry season. It’s best to visit their website to see what’s pickin’ or call 843-838-3656 for hourly updates.
