The annual Beaufort Water Festival has added two more nights of rock ‘n’ roll to this year’s festivities.
Festival organizers have announced that Freebird, a popular Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band from Atlanta will be playing at this year’s Lowcountry Supper on Thursday, July 20th, and Led Zeppelin 2, a popular Led Zeppelin tribute band will be performing at the adult-only River Dance on Friday night, July 21st.
The mostly country music-laden festival has had AC/DC, Journey, Guns & Roses, Metallica and Eagles tribute bands in the past, and also brought in mega-rocker-turned-country musician Aaron Lewis (Staind) a few years back in 2017, and this year promises to hold TWO rockin’ nights because there aren’t many songs that Skynyrd or Zeppelin have played that weren’t meant to be loud.
Here’s some video of Led Zeppelin2 performing the classic Zep song, “Whole Lotta Love.” Although Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham and John Paul Jones are pretty tough to imitate, these guys definitely sound like the real deal, or as close as anyone without the four aforementioned names could ever come.
Freebird, the Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band does everything they can to sound like the real deal and promises to get your blood pumping with classic Skynyrd hits including Gimme Three Steps, Sweet Home Alabama, That Smell, Freebird, Saturdy Night Special and many more. They offer a completely comparable sound to the original, and are fantastic musicians in their own right.
Here’s Freebird playing a cover of the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic anthem, Freebird, among other songs, in their promotional video.
While it’s plain to see that country music is still king at the Beaufort Water Festival, it’s also nice to know that some fantastic rock music also gets its time on stage at the annual summer event.
We’ll take it. Any way you shake it, it’s going to be a fantastic 10 days in Beaufort SC.
It always is.
