The military says, ‘no man left behind.’ That’s why an unclaimed Vietnam Veteran is being laid to rest next week at the Beaufort National Cemetery and the invitation for attendance is open to literally anyone and everyone.
Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12 in Beaufort, along with the Beaufort National Cemetery, AMVETS Post 70 and VFW Post 8760 have put out a call for volunteers to attend the service of a Veteran who is being interred at our National Cemetery because he has no surviving family.
Thomas Moore, US Air Force, Vietnam Veteran
He has no surviving family.
“Tuesday, August 1st, at 12pm, everyone is welcome to celebrate the life and service of Thomas Moore, USAF, unclaimed Veteran,” AMVETS said in a post on its Facebook page.
“Not much is known of Mr. Moore other than he is a Vietnam War Veteran and his remains were unclaimed,” it said. “We are asking anyone in the community to attend his service at National Cemetery.”
“Please share and get the word out that this Veteran is NOT forgotten!”
DAV Chapter 12, in an email to its members, is asking everyone to “please join us as we stand the watch and honor the service of this Veteran.”
It’s very heartwarming to see that these three organizations have banded together to get the word out and have stepped up to make sure Mr. Moore is laid to rest with people there to honor his life and his service to our Country.
Whenever an unclaimed Veteran needs his/her proper burial in Beaufort, these organizations always step up.
The services are planned for Tuesday, August 1st, at 12pm at the Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort SC.
DAV Chapter 12 is asking that its members and volunteers to please gather at the Committal Shelter at 1130am, in advance of the ceremony.
If you can spare an hour out of your day to attend and to help give this hero the love and respect he deserves, please do.
