The military says, ‘no man left behind.’ That’s why three veterans are being laid to rest next week at the Beaufort National Cemetery and the invitation for attendance is open to literally anyone and everyone.

Wreaths Across America Beaufort put out a call on Thursday for volunteers to attend the services of three veterans who are being interred at our National Cemetery because none of the three have any surviving family.

One of the heroes is a World War II veteran and two are Vietnam War veterans.

“Three veteran heroes will be laid to rest,” a release from Wreaths Across America said. “They have no family members to mourn them and pay respects. We would like to invite you to be their family and to honor their service to America.”

Frank Remeikis, October 17, 1917-February 27, 2007, a WWII veteran.

Wesley Allen Jones, April 19, 1953-March 5, 2007, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Walter Boyd Hall, April 3, 1950-August 24, 2012, a Vietnam War veteran.

We’re very happy to see that the Beaufort chapter of Wreaths Across America stepped up to make sure these heroes are laid to rest with people there to honor their lives and their service to our Country. One day, very soon, we will no longer have any WWII veterans left and won’t have the privilege of honoring them any longer.

The services are planned for Wednesday, April 24th at Noon at the Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort SC.

If you can spare an hour out of your day to attend and to help give these heroes the love and respect they deserve, please do.
