Locals and folks visiting the Beaufort area are again in for a treat as the Town of Port Royal will be putting on its Independence Day Celebration and fireworks for the 4th of July.

After your done with the day of boating, relaxing, barbecuing and having fun with family and friends, get on down to The Sands for more fun and fireworks.

The festivities at The Sands start at noon and you’ll enjoy lots of family fun including good eats and drinks that will help combat the heat we usually have here in the Lowcountry.

Starting at Noon, local Boy Scouts will be on hand serving hot dogs and burgers, as well as The Snack Shack and Tropical Treasures, and a Beer Truck will be on hand to quench your adult thirst. At 4pm, the food trucks roll in. Enjoy fare from Fly Pies, Time to Eat, Shellring Ale Works, Lawyers BBQ and Molly’s Fish and Chips.

Live entertainment starts at 4pm on two different stages with Campfire Tyler from 4pm to 6pm and Josephine Johnston from 6pm to 8pm. Then, the Marine Corps Brass Band will perform from 8pm until the fireworks start, again over at the Main Stage.

Free parking on Paris Avenue and side streets will be available and the road to the Sands landing will be shut down effective midnight prior to the 4th of July for all traffic including boats with trailers. 7th Street is typically closed to all traffic except for residents that live on that street.

According to the Town of Port Royal, golf carts will be allowed to be driven down to the sands beach, but golf cart owners will have one of two choices to make. Golf carts will either have to be gone by 8pm, before the fireworks start, or wait till ALL pedestrians are gone, before making the drive back from The Sands.

The fireworks at The Sands are put on by East Coast Pyrotechnics and usually begin around 915pm.

Yes, what better way to celebrate the 4th of July in Beaufort than fireworks, family fun and community at the Sands in Port Royal.

It’s a lot of fun and you won’t find a better place to enjoy a night of celebrating.
