There’s some excitement across the state today as South Carolina Gamecocks football picked up a commitment for the class of 2019 on Monday from a son of a Hall Famer.
Shilo Sanders (Cedar Hill, Texas/Trinity Christian School), who is the son of former NFL All-Pro and MLB All-Star Deion Sanders, made his pledge to South Carolina known with a post to his Instagram account with a video that featured several of his high school highlights. The video ended with him wearing a white Gamecocks No. 21 jersey, the same number his father donned during his professional career.
The 6-foot, 178-pound physical corner, who can also play nickel or safety had more than a dozen offers, which also included Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska, Oregon and Tennessee…but he picked SC.
The future of Gamecock football is getting brighter.
The Gamecocks offered Sanders on September 25 and the prospect visited campus in Columbia the next month. Sanders took an official visit to see South Carolina over the weekend of October 12 for the game against Texas A&M.
Sanders then made his way back to campus for a surprise unofficial visit last weekend when the active period opened again.
“The official visit was awesome. The atmosphere was great. We loved it. They showed us a whole bunch of love out there,” Shilo said. “Coach Muschamp was just telling me about the program. I just feel real good about it. I think it would be a good fit for me.”
