Panda Express opens its doors at new Beaufort Station

Panda Express opened its first location in Beaufort County on Tuesday at the new Beaufort Station shopping center.

We stopped into the packed spot to check them out, and were quite impressed with their no MSG fare.

According to its website, Panda Express is an American fast food restaurant chain that specializes in American Chinese cuisine; a combination of Chinese roots with an American taste.

With over 2,200 locations, and 16 (now 17) in South Carolina, it is the largest Asian-segment restaurant chain in the United States, where it was founded, and is mainly located in North America and Asia.

First opened in California back in 1983, Panda Express also employs nearly 40,000, and is a casual, fast-food variation of corporate sibling Panda Inn, which is a chain of upscale, table service restaurants.

Panda Express joined an impressive list of retail and restaurant tenants at the new Beaufort Station, a 209,250 square foot shopping center with outparcels on the corner of Robert Smalls Parkway and Paris Island Gateway.

Tenants include Parkers Kitchen, Chicken Salad Chick, Mattress Warehouse, and America’s Best, PetSmart, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Five Below, Rack Room Shoes, Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less, Ulta Beauty, and Old Navy.

Still to open are ALDI, and Surcheros Fresh Mex.

While a new Chinese spot in town isn’t quite earth shattering news, it definitely brings more to what we have to choose from here in Beaufort, SC.
