They celebrate shrimp up the street in Yemassee, too, with the 32nd annual Yemassee Shrimp Festival. The three-day event is coming this weekend to take over the town, starting Thursday, September 17th.
Part carnival, part festival, and part street fair, with a generous heaping serving of community, the local festival at Town Circle and the Town Hall area celebrates all-things-shrimp and hosts a wide variety of events with fun for everyone.
Attendees of all ages can enjoy a large carnival with rides, food, drink, and craft vendors, 3 different community parades with awards including a lighted parade with golf carts and boats, a fantastic fireworks display, lots and lots of live music, face painting and fire juggling, a cornhole tournament, and a whole lot more.
The music line up includes a Michael Jackson tribute concert, traditional gospel music, and a headlining show by country music’s Jason Lee Cook.
The fun starts on Thursday at 3pm with the opening of the carnival, and it doesn’t end until late Saturday night. There are just too many events going on in-between to mention.
