Architectural Digest named Beaufort one of the 25 Best Small Towns in America in a recent list published on the magazine’s website.

“Beaufort is the second-oldest city in South Carolina after Charleston,” Architectural Digest said.

“Fishing, boating, and other water sports are popular in the town, which is located on Port Royal Island. You might recognize Beaufort from Forrest Gump, which used the bucolic setting during filming.”

Among countless other things, Beaufort’s majestic Antebellum homes help give it the special charm that the town is revered for; no doubt something that Architectural Digest paid attention to when making their selection.

In picking Beaufort as one of the 25 Best Small Towns in America, and one that you should explore, the article was sure to mention getting “a taste of that history through its abundant antebellum homes,”

Last February, Architectural Digest named Beaufort the Prettiest Town in South Carolina.

The accolades have been pouring in for Beaufort recently.

In the past year, Beaufort has been named the Best Small Town in South Carolina, called One of the Cutest Towns in the U.S., the Most Quaint Town in South Carolina.

Just last month, we were named the most charming small town in South Carolina.

In addition to those, Southern Living magazine named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s most beautiful chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the best state parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s most beautiful streets.
