Council members of Beaufort County, the Town of Port Royal and the town of Bluffton are all holding meetings this week to discuss and consider emergency ordinances to make mask wearing mandatory in their areas.
On Wednesday, July 1, at 4 p.m. Beaufort County Council will meet to discuss and take action on an emergency ordinance to require the use of face masks “in certain places where individuals will not be able to social distance.”
The County’s meeting will be held virtually, but will be broadcast live to the public on The County Channel and streamed live on Beaufort County Government SC’s Facebook page.

The Town of Hilton Head Island and the City of Beaufort councils both passed emergency face mask ordinances on Monday, June 29, that go in effect within town and city limits at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, June 30.
Also the Town of Port Royal’s council members will discuss a face mask ordinance at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Port Royal is considering an emergency ordinance requiring individuals to wear face coverings in certain circumstances.
