Carteret Street United Methodist Church annual Pumpkin Patch opened on Monday, September 27th.

With the arrival of fall, it’s be time to look for that perfect pumpkin for carving or using them as colorful fall decorations. Nothing says fall fun like visiting one of our local pumpkin patches to find the perfect gourd and the Beaufort area is home to a few of them.

Here’s a list of local pumpkin patches in our neck of the Lowcountry, some even with corn mazes, hay rides and lots more to offer.

Carteret Street United Methodist Church turns into one big pumpkin patch every year and adds a huge touch of fall to downtown Beaufort. The pumpkin patch will be open starting September 26th. Each season, the pumpkins sold at Carteret Street UMC are are grown by Navajo Indians in New Mexico and are shipped to the church in tractor trailers. Some of them are just huge. The pumpkin patch is located at 408 Carteret Street in downtown Beaufort and is open 7 days a week from Noon – 6pm.

Holiday Farms in Ridgeland has lots of fall fun to offer the whole family.

Dempsey Farms opens a u-pick pumpkin patch every fall at it’s family farm on St. Helena Island for a more traditional pumpkin picking experience. Enjoy picking from several acres of pumpkins and you’ll also find other fall veggies, gourds and lots more. Get lost in their vast corn maze too. We got lost in it last year. Dempsey Farms is located at 1576 Sea Island Parkway on St. Helena Island. Visit here for their upcoming schedule.

The Great Pumpkin Patch at Holiday Farms in Ridgeland opened its season this year on October 1st and offers tons of family fun. In addition to just picking pumpkins, you and the kids will spend time with a variety of fun games and activities including corn mazes, barrel train rides, tractor hay rides, corn grinding, a yard-sized bounce house, and lots more as Holiday Farms puts out lots of traditional farm activities to enjoy. They also have live music and a general store full of local goodies. Holiday Farms is located at 10884 Grays Highway, Ridgeland. Lowcountry Produce offers fall fun every fall around the 2nd week of October at its Lobeco farm. In addition to a big pumpkin patch, kids enjoy the offering of free hayrides, pony rides, a hay bale maze, huge haystacks and more. You can also visit the store there and grab some local goodies. Lowcountry Produce is located at 1919 Trask Parkway in Lobeco. Visit here for information and schedule as it’s announced.

The Island Recreation Association on Hilton Head hosts the Pumpkin Patch Festival on the last Friday of every October at Shelter Cove Community Park. The park is filled with pumpkins where kids can pick, paint and decorate their own. They’ll also enjoy hay rides, face painting, bounce houses, animals and costume contests, too. This season, it’s scheduled for October 21st from 4 to 7pm. Shelter Cove Community Park is located at 39 Shelter Cove Lane on Hilton Head Island.

The new LowCo Gardeners location in Port Royal has a ton of pumpkins and other fall goodies for sale at it’s nursery. They also plan to offer a fall wreath making class and a fall festival later in October. Check them out here.

Cahill’s Market in Bluffton also usually has a pumpkin patch full of pumpkins of all sizes for the picking, as well as mums, gourds and tons of cool fall stuff for your decorating needs. Cahill’s is located at 1055 May River Road.
