More kudos are coming our way as Southern Living Magazine has just named beautiful Beaufort SC the #2 Best Small Town in the South in a recent publication.
Southern Living said that this year’s selections are full of personality and charm and they run the gamut from mountain hamlets to coastal villages.
The magazine says Beaufort SC has it all….charm, beauty, scenery, history and has become a must-see town on any trip to the coastal South.
It also warns visitors that they’ll come to Beaufort SC for the scenery….but they’ll end up looking at real estate by the end of the day.
Who was #1? Well, we’re doing the Beaufort vs. Beaufort thing again because the #1 small town in the south is Beaufort, NC.

5 Fairhope, AL
6 Columbia, TN
7 Gatlinburg, TN
8 Bluffton, SC

Southern Living has been heaping praises all over the Lowcountry as of late. Hilton Head was named the Best Beach Town in the South and was also said to have the best beach in the South with its Coligny Beach and Bluffton was in the Top 10 on this year’s Best Small Town list coming in at #8.
Closer to home recently, Southern Living named the Old Sheldon Church ruins one of the South’s most beautiful chapels; named Hunting Island State Park one of the best state parks in the South; and named downtown Beaufort’s Craven Street one of the South’s most beautiful streets.
Charleston has also been voted the Best City in the South and also the South’s Best Food City.
