If you’re looking for some family fun over the holiday break, Park Rangers at South Carolina State Parks, including at Hunting Island, plan to kick off 2022 by leading a hike all across the state on New Year’s Day.

The First Day Hike program has walks ranging from a 1/2 mile to 5 miles all throughout the day. The hikes vary from leisurely strolls to some seriously strenuous workouts.

Here in Beaufort & the sea islands, Hunting Island State Park rangers are leading a 1 mile Nature Center Scenic Trail hike that starts at 10am.

In other Lowcountry State Parks, Lake Warren State Park is hosting a 1 1/4 mile Interpretive Trail hike at 9am, and Edisto Beach State Park is hosting a 3 mile walk to the inlet on Edisto Island that starts at 11am.
