In another nod to Beaufort’s attraction as a tourist hot spot, popular travel and tourism website TripAdvisor included Beaufort on its recent list of 17 Beautiful Small Towns to Visit in the United States.

“Sometimes a small town getaway is just what you need to slow down and hit refresh,” TripAdvisor said. “These 17 beautiful small towns deliver relaxation and recreation with a heavy dose of charm, proving that bigger isn’t always better.”

TripAdvisor’s article said that Beaufort is “full of quintessential Southern charm, and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful small towns in the United States”

This is a big deal.

It’s TripAdvisor.

In the past few months, the kudos have been pouring in.

We were named the #2 best small town in the South by Southern Living Magazine.  We’ve been called the prettiest town in South Carolina; named as the most quaint small town in the Palmetto state; and named the best small town in the South by a travel website.

We’ve been voted as one of the top spots to retire in the South; been called one of the 9 cutest towns in the U.S.A.; and Hunting Island was named one of the best state parks in the south.

Not a bad past few months for Beaufort SC.

It then followed by touting our history with big budget films. “Even Hollywood agrees—see where more than two dozen movies were filmed throughout the town on a movie and history tour, then relax with a bowl of the town’s signature Frogmore stew or a stroll along the Waterfront Park.”

If you’re truly judged by the company you keep, then Beaufort was in plenty of good company on Trip Advisor’s list.

Other towns to make the grade are St. Augustine, FL, Black Mountain, NC, St. Simon’s Island, GA, Big Sky, MT, Telluride, CO and Fernandina Beach, FL.

Not bad company at all.
