City to host July 4th weekend events in downtown

Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Independence Day weekend with family-friendly festivities in Downtown Beaufort and Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park as the city will host July 4th weekend events.

First Friday: Red, White & Beaufort 
Friday, July 3 | 5:00–8:00 p.m. | Downtown Beaufort

Kick off the holiday weekend at First Friday: Red, White & Beaufort, hosted by Main Street Beaufort. The evening will feature live music throughout downtown, inflatable games and activities, rides on the little train, visits with furry friends, and family favorites including a cake walk and hot dog eating contest.

Cake walks, sponsored by Harris Teeter, will take place every hour on the hour. The hot dog eating contest is sponsored by Harris Teeter and Southern Sweets. Those interested in competing may register online at https://form.jotform.com/261686213017151.

Guests are encouraged to shop local, dine local, and support the businesses that make Beaufort unique.

Firecracker 5K Run 
Saturday, July 4 | 8:00 a.m. | Downtown Beaufort

Join Help of Beaufort for the annual Firecracker 5K Race beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 4. Runners will travel through historic downtown Beaufort and across the Woods Memorial Bridge following a certified 5K course. The race begins and ends at Freedom Mall on Bay Street.

Packet pickup will be available Friday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Grounded Running, 2139 Boundary Street, Suite 108, Beaufort, SC 29902.

The event is pet and stroller friendly. Flexi-type leashes are not permitted. Pets must be on a standard 4-6 foot lead.

Community Freedom Fest
Saturday, July 4 | 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. | Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park

Following the Firecracker 5K, the celebration continues with the Community Freedom Fest at the Waterfront park, hosted by the City of Beaufort.

Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a fun-filled morning of patriotic celebration featuring family-friendly activities, games, a kids DJ, community organizations, and plenty of opportunities to make lasting memories together.

The festivities kick off with the Kids & Family Parade at 9:00 AM. Participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes, wagons, strollers, and more in red, white, and blue and join the parade as it travels from 500 Carteret Street to Waterfront Park.
